Septic Tank And Treatment Plant Install And Repair

In 2021, new regulations were introduced in England for septic tanks and treatment plants. All of our engineers have been trained on the new compliance rules and can provide expert advice on whether your old septic tank meets the up-to-date requirements or if your household sewage system needs to be updated with a treatment plant.

A septic tank separates waste, whereas a treatment plant will clean your household waste before it deposits it back into a natural watercourse.

    How Does It Work?

A septic tank separates waste, whereas a treatment plant will clean your household waste before it deposits it back into a natural watercourse.

A septic tank is typically used when a property isn’t connected to the main sewer, they are designed to collect ‘greywater’ and ‘blackwater’ from households. Usually found in the countryside and installed underground, it performs approximately 45% of the treatment to the water within, the remaining treatment needs to be carried out in the soak away (drainage field) which requires expert installation and maintenance. The treated effluent exits the tank and enters the drainage field (also known as a leach field), where further natural processes occur to purify the water before it returns to the environment. A septic tank needs to be emptied regularly, the frequency at which is needs emptying depends on the size of the tank and the number of people using the sewage system.

For new and replacement septic tanks

For new and replacement septic tanks, expert installation is required. If you are unsure whether you comply with the latest regulations or want to discuss through your drainage options, Drain Zone can carry out a septic tank survey and provide a recommendation based on your needs. As well as initial surveys, we specialise in septic tank installation and maintenance. This ensures your tanking needs are catered for at all stages of the lifecycle.
